Monique Martin, PA-C

Monique Martin, PA-C, is a physician assistant providing psychiatric care at Huron River Psychiatry. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Eastern Michigan University and her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Michigan-Flint. Born in Texas and raised in a military family, Monique lived in several areas throughout the United States before ultimately making Michigan home.

Monique provides care for patients with a range of mental health concerns, with particular interests in women's mental health, ADHD, depression, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). She approaches psychiatric care with an emphasis on understanding each patient as a whole, including their symptoms, experiences, goals, and the ways mental health may be affecting everyday life.

She believes effective treatment should be collaborative, evidence-based, and individualized. Monique recognizes that discussing mental health concerns, medications, or personal experiences can sometimes feel difficult, particularly when meeting a new provider. She strives to create a welcoming and nonjudgmental environment where patients feel comfortable asking questions and speaking openly about their concerns.

Before becoming a physician assistant, Monique worked as a nursing aide caring for individuals with traumatic brain injuries and as a medical assistant in women's health. These experiences helped shape her appreciation for compassionate care, careful listening, and the importance of building trust with patients.

Through education and shared decision-making, Monique works with each patient to develop a treatment plan that reflects their individual needs and goals. Her aim is for patients to leave their appointments feeling heard, informed, and confident in the decisions being made about their care.
