Richard Dopp, MD, psychiatrist at Huron River Psychiatry providing expert mental health care.

Richard Dopp, MD

Rich Dopp, MD, is a board-certified adult and child and adolescent psychiatrist with extensive experience caring for children, adolescents, adults, and families. He earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Michigan in 1995 and graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School in 2001. He also completed his residency training in adult psychiatry and fellowship training in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Michigan.

Following his training, Dr. Dopp spent 18 years as a faculty member and attending physician with Michigan Medicine Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, where he was involved in the evaluation and treatment of children and adolescents with a wide range of psychiatric concerns.

Dr. Dopp's academic and research interests have included the relationships between depression, physical activity, sleep, and overall wellness in children and adolescents. His approach to psychiatric care recognizes that effective treatment often involves more than medication alone. He values comprehensive treatment plans that may incorporate evidence-based psychotherapy, healthy sleep and exercise habits, nutrition and other self-care strategies, nutraceuticals, and psychiatric medications when appropriate.

At Huron River Psychiatry, Dr. Dopp serves as a collaborating physician and does not see patients directly. In this role, he works with the clinical team to support thoughtful, evidence-based psychiatric care for the children, adolescents, and adults served by the practice.
